Visit to Questacon

We went on a lightning quick trip to Canberra today to take the kids to Questacon. A science based exploratory museum I guess you would call it. I haven't been for years and years and The boys had a blast. We first visited the dinosaurs. They had 5 dinosaurs there which Tyler was a bit scared of at first but was pretty happy soon enough. Checking out the myasourus

Testing out the Jacobs ladder where the electricity travels up the wires.

I got caught in the reflection so SP time :)

Tyler was testing out how fast the ping pong balls would travel down the twists and turns.

The boys were fascinated the currents of air pushing the ball up in to the air.IMG_4724

Catching ducks! and playing the air harp

Dazza checking out the earth quake exhibits and Tyler trying to pick up the illusion. It was pretty funny as he was there for ages before he finally figured it out that there was no golden statue to actually touch.IMG_4763

Caden teaching Tyler about the Tsunamis then both of them pushing the big and little wave buttons and seeing the difference.

More to come later when I get them into story boards!

IS there a bug in my lens?

The boys were playing in the car port and while Caden is oh so tricky and too fast forme to get in focus photos, my little man is still a little gem, and gives his Mama these big brown eyes. I have yet to edit the sweeping up shots that he was determined to do. But I asked if there was a bug in my lens.... so he looks, say nah it is just Tyler.

The lake is back...

With all the rain yesterday, we turned tourist in our own town - like so many others- to check out the lake. Our Lake has been dying a very slow and painful death with such long hot summers and no decent rain. There has been no water sports on it for years yet with one weekend of tremendous downpours it is back to 50% capacity and looking so much better.

We also went to check out the river as well, as it too has suffered greatly with the weather and lack of water.

Here is the river. IMG_4549

Rain Rain Rain and more Rain

We woke up this morning to rain and rain and rain. The boys are in Coota as Daz and I shot a wedding yesterday for Kristie and Shane. We had perfect weather yesterday for the wedding thank goodness! And this is our poor backyard about lunchtime. Puddles every where. We had over 110ml fall over this weekend and most of it today.

I love how despite all the water on the patio the bike is perfectly reflected in it.

ABC...

Caden has really come along in school this year! The last few weeks we have been getting him out of the habit of writing all his letters in his words in capital letters. Tonight he sat down at his desk in his room copying and drawing and colouring. Soon he came out with the entire alphabet written in lower case letters! Finally a click!

IT is too quiet...

This morning. If you know my boys then there is no such thing as quiet time in the mornings unless super hero squad, Mr Maker or bakugan is on the TV.They are yellers, they are chase each other around the house they are noisy BOYS. So when it was quiet I had to investigate. I am not quite sure where Caden was - maybe in his room drawing but I totally tested out my camera at the highest ISO setting I could without using the flash and caught my little man doing this...

First Day at Pre-School

Tyler is home with me now and not in daycare any longer. So we have started him 1/2 day at preschool. Last week we went to have a look at what it was like and what to expect. He Loved it. He didn't want to leave. So today he starts his 1/2 day with the other 3 year olds. I dashed off to a meet with the bride and groom of a wedding I am shooting this weekend and He stayed to play. When I arrived to pick him up, he ran straight to me and was babbling! He just had a wonderful time, he painted his art bag and made a basket for Easter. He had a pet turtle in his room and fish in the other room. He knew exactly where his bag was and sang songs and played in the 'kitchen'. It was so wonderful to hear that he had a fabulous day and that he was so happy again.

Here is the only photo he  let me take before going to school...

Sometimes

it is too easy to get caught up in looking for something that may or may not be there. Sometimes I discard photos that aren't perfect or just don't do anything with them. Then I come back a few days later and while they weren't what I was specifically looking for in that specific moment. I am so glad and grateful that I still took them. Sometimes it is about capturing the moment not the thought of the moment, and seeing what is truly there in front of me.

I take photos to capture the memories and of late striving to bring portraits to my photos as well. but sometimes you don't need them. The look on your kiddos face as he swings down the shoot or plays peek a boo around  tree are way more important in his life and yours.

SO here are some moments of Tyler at the park the other day. yes I took portrait type shots but you know what these are meaning more to me than them at the moment.

They show him just as he was. cranky, funny, silly, patient, Oh so patient with his Mama.

somteimes it is about the fun

Oh and here he is the UNO king of our house. He doesn't win every game but he tries and sometimes we let him win, sometimes we don't. But whatever happens he is happy. And that for me is the best thing in the world.uno tyler

sunrise

I admit that I played with the pp on this but I loved love loved the sun streaming through the clouds this morning. It was one of those days where I wish we lived in a picturesque. lots of open space type of area that I could have shot a stunning landscape but we have your neighbours trees instead lol!
