stormy weather brings a rainbow

  we have had the most revolting weather today. definitely a day to stay inside. I took a glance outside and had to grab the camera…

This was one of the most vibrant rainbows I have seen in a long time! Then I turned around to see the sun setting amongst the clouds

I was playing tonight while talking ot a friend and turned day into night! he he it was fun!

I shot this friday morning when we went ot the park for walk to school day. this is how it looked sooc…

One play with a couple of blend modes still daylight, bit poppy colours though!

And now it looks a lit up and pretty at night fall.

Holy bokeh batman!

I do have to admit to loving when I get great bokeh (you know that really blurry background) I cant say that recently I have had much luck but then I have been focusing on people photos and particularly the little kids photos adn man they move fast! But yay I did it! At the Botanical Gardens while the kid were occupied doing this…

Wahoo can you say creamy bokeh baby! The plants looked pretty cool too! Makes me want a true macro lens just to get the better up close shots but hey these are pretty good if I say so myself! better than others I have done before!

I admit that I played with the pp on this but I loved love loved the sun streaming through the clouds this morning. It was one of those days where I wish we lived in a picturesque. lots of open space type of area that I could have shot a stunning landscape but we have your neighbours trees instead lol!

well not much to show for today!

I have no idea why but whenever we visit G'ma and Papa I never seem to take a lot of photos. Me? the queen of obsessively taking photos of everything? I can only think that I enjoy the down time where the kids are entranced by occupying every breathing and blinking moment doing something with G'ma and I like reading my book! I will grab the camera out to play with flower shots because as anyone that really knows me my gardening skills  leaves an awful lot to be desired - I almost killed mum's aggie's that she gave me (they are reviving at the moment due to a big big drink!).

Any way rambling aside - the boys had a blast. They gardened, they shopped, they ran around like loons, they ate lollies and cakes, they had a spa (but not till papa came home) and they slept over. So as a tribute to my parents having such a wonderful time with their grandkids here is one of the 6 photos I took of the same flower (strange I know) from mum's garden. it is probably one of my favourites cause it is so cool looking!

 

Thanks Mum and Dad - I will try to take more of you guys with the kiddos!

just for fun for me

since I was home all by myself today I was working on editing and we shall call it research and skill building :P on the net today but then the monthly challenge popped into my head again. Well this month was yellow and I have been racking my brains for something different to shoot that was yellow. So,... I propped Caden's bike up on the yellow bin lid and shot this...

lots and lots of yellow there! well after I had done that I looked sideways next to my desk and low and behold ... a Tweety, and Elmo in a yellow car, a monkey dressed in a yep you guessed it a yellow shirt, a yellow poponz bale of hay and of course a yellow lizard. So much for my powers of observation... But wait it didn't stop there I looked outside and what did I see? the sandpit full and yes it is full of yellow Tonka trucks.

Anyway I am happy with my entry for the challenge!

 

while I was outside there were some very cool cloud formations in the brilliant blue sky so I shot them too :)

and I didn't stop there I was on a roll - exposing properly in manual no less I am getting more confident with it! Gonna have to try people again though!

I looked down and nestled in the grass was a heap of tiny purple and white flowers that I think are clover but I digress and they had bees.

Now it is here that I wish for a macro lens as they would have been way better focus wise. But still I really like the cool effect of the DOF created by the wide open aperture!

 

and I just love love love the colours in our neighbours trees against that bright sky!

POTD {beginning to play with Macros}

I don't have a lot of confidence in macro shots  - I keep practicing and practicing whenever I go to mum and dads as mum has the green thumb in our family. Daz is pretty good but I forget to water them! Here are a few from Christmas day after the rain. I have used Jess's vintage dreams textures and actions on these to have a play with them too.
