The River

The kids have been asking every single day for over a week now 'can we go to the river?" well finally today we made it. What a stinking hot day it was so the river was actually quite refreshing. I even got my feet wet!! Yes I took the camera but I haven't put them on the computer yet but fingers crossed I think I have  some awesome ones on there. Daz is even getting into taking some more pics - as long as I set it up. But he got some fabulous backlit ones today. I am so proud of my hubby!

Comment of the day came from Caden as he was retelling Daddy how he tried to pull mummy in the water - "mummy yelled No" (in a high squeally voice and proceeded to quote daddy as "mummy screamed like a girl"

Oh good thanks, not even 5 and I am getting in trouble for BEING A GIRL!

I can tell you this though they aren't going to have to get too much bigger to be able to pull me over, then I am in BIG trouble!

Trying to catch up

Whew where is time going?

I have been so slack with my blogging lately, I haven't been able to keep up with editing my photos as I go either. The last few weeks have been really busy and just flown by. We started as you know with the Lazy Town and Zoo trip, then that was followed by dropping in to see G'ma for her birthday then we hit Townsville. Up there for 10 days, flew and drove home - the boys travelled really well. Thank goodness for such awesome technology now that in car DVD players are a godsend. Then home a day and I was back at work again. Saturday saw us off to Canberra for the weekend to catch up with friends and their two kids the same ages as the boys. We got some shopping in and then back home again where Caden was digging through my closet for some reason only know to him and discovered his transformer suit that is supposed to be for his birthday in November! oh well sin the two days since then he has barely been out of it! so since I have been so slack and not blogged here is a glimpse of our mornings (mostly) of the last 17 days!

 

As you can see we went from playing in the beach and pool to crappy foggy cold and dreary weather. But the sun has been shining the last couple of days and the boys are back at school and cranky from it. Ahh life is ever changing!

Byrne Family Photos

While in Townsville we caught up with Nanna Byrne a lot. The boys remembered her and really loved spending time with her which was awesome! We also got to  meet our nieces Roselyn and Taylah. here are a few moments from the park, the beach and the airport.

At the Beach

The local one at the river that is!!

It is Daddy's birthday today and even though he had the day off we didn't! So the boys and I went to school! My class had a reward trip for fun and games at the local beach here (only a couple of blocks from the school) and I had a great time watching them enjoy themselves and paddle in the water. After Daz picked us all up we headed there ourselves as this was the first time that we had taken the boys. Ty said to me as I got in the car "Mummy guess what?!" "We going to the ribber!" In the less than 5 minutes that it took us to get there I think he said that about 20 times!!! anyway we made it and they had fun! The boys waded and jumped and splashed in the water (yes Mummy even get her feet wet!!), they picked up rocks and threw (trying to skim them) across the water. Once we finished in the water, the boys hit the play area and had a blast! Daz let me take some shots of him with the river behind which I thought turned out nicely. Oh and we got to see 2 kookaburras sitting on the huge stump lookout railing. pretty awesome!

Day 22 DD

Shell

This bought back many memories of collecting shells on the beach while visiting my Nanna. I used to collect hundreds of these tiny shells to make into necklaces! now I am teaching my cuties to collect shells at the beach!

DD Day 21

loved this little turtle at the Potoroo Palace. This was one of many animals that lived at the native animal shelter. This park was very hands on with kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and emus roaming free! there was a reptile talk that we got to check out the blue tongue lizards, snakes and a few other, feed the Koalas who were incredibly uncooperative, see the echidnas and dingoes as well! The boys loved it.

DD Day 21

DD day 20

Board walk- this is where we walked along looking for little crabs and fish and different things at low tide! We got to see lots of different things, this was one of the first times that the boys can see marine life in nature rather than in pictures. The edges were all covered in either mud or oyster shells, grape looking sea-weed and other weeds. At low tide like this morning you can see the roots of the mangrove trees and all the little crab holes

We stopped at Pambula Main beach which is where the kangaroos come to swim! We didn't get a chance to see this but we did get to see some big roos resting in the park only a couple of blocks away! These storm clouds looked really ominous and we thought we were in for a big storm. I loved the colours in the life-savers flags (which they had just started setting up) against the clouds. This is SOOC
