Anzac day march

Every year we try to get to the ANZAC day march. We haven’t made it to the ceremonies yet though. This year Caden was full of questions and the boys really enjoyed watching the band and the sliders march. It is actually quite nice that Caden was really interested in the different uniforms and what they do. He knows that Daddy worked with the planes in the RAAF and that our neighbour is  in the Army. We actually got there early enough to get a front row spot in the main street this year and also claim a couple of flags to wave as well.

The lake is back...

With all the rain yesterday, we turned tourist in our own town - like so many others- to check out the lake. Our Lake has been dying a very slow and painful death with such long hot summers and no decent rain. There has been no water sports on it for years yet with one weekend of tremendous downpours it is back to 50% capacity and looking so much better.

 

We also went to check out the river as well, as it too has suffered greatly with the weather and lack of water.

two boys one place - it is a miracle!!

Yes your eyes are not deceiving you. Our children are sitting quietly beside one another and had done so for about 1/2 an hour! OMG it is a miracle. I never ever knew it could happen ! lol! Oh yeah their fave TV show was on too so that had a HUGE part in it!

Crafting day one. I have been following Emily Southerland from 2peas and her amazing blog! She is a truly inspiring person, photographer and a goddess as felty crafty goodness! Now I admit that mine pales in comparison but I made a little mailbox out of some polar fleece I had lying around, some laminated cardboard and a few staples  (on the inside) I had pics of the inside with 'letters in there' but the file is corrupted and I am being too lazy to resize it again.

sunset drive

Driving to work I see these awesome hay bales. They are in such big open paddocks and are that gorgeous golden colours and every day morning and afternoon I think that I really have to go and take some photos. So tonight we went out for a drive after dinner. The sunset light was simply gorgeous and as the fields were out near the airport there wasn't a great deal of issue with light in my eyes and flares in the lens (unless it was deliberate :P)

I played with textures on these to give them a different look. While it isn't something that I routinely do I think they suit these pics!

two little boys, a mower and a new quirk

Caden is still on an anti-photo kick at the moment so we don't get many showable ones of him! It has been nearly 2 weeks since his operation and he is going really well. He is turning into a normal 4yo that just never stops! He loves to climb into his jammies straight after school and Tyler loves to play with the mower still.  The are on the way of putting it back where it was. One of the rare moments that I can actually get them in the same photo lately!!

I jumped on the trampoline to get this. I was pretty happy as I was trying for the silhouette look

and you cant go past a open your eyes and yell go! at mummy! I was bouncing him while trying to take this! WE seem to be spending a lot of time on the trampoline lately since daddy took the nets down.

trying something new...

I have been seeing awesome sun flares for some time on other peoples blogs and websites. oh they look lovely. through playing a little bit and figuring out the right aperture I did it!!

we were out the back and next door has these cool cool trees that give me plenty to photograph year round as they are blossoming in spring, colour changers in autumn, naked in winter and wither a lush green or a gorgeous burgundy/purple colour in summer. at the moment they are stripping off for those cold bare months. being autumn I jut love the cooler crisp days that the sun just seems to be that little bit brighter and the colours more vibrant. so here is my sun flare!

Peas on Earth {landscapes}

I was thinking of perspective today and also with the peas on earth challenge it all came together in one thought. Our lake (only a few minutes from our home) has been getting lower and lower everyday. I drive past here to take the kids to their school and we can almost 'see' the water leaving it. This was completely full only a couple of years ago when we moved back here in 2006, now as I took these photos this morning I stood at the edge of what used to be the water. as you can see the huge expanse of dirt/silt that has been recently 'harvested' for use on the new football fields. This was a Mecca for all types of water sports both fishing and boating related, swimming and splashing as well as providing scenery that at times was gorgeous. now we desperately need almost flood conditions to fill it again. Anyway here is our lake (or what it is today)

Its a bit hard to see it clearly when I resize but it does give you an idea of the vastness of what once it was.

On a much nicer note...

The Murrumbidgee River runs along side (and sometimes through) Wagga. We came out just before sunset the other night and found these little spots that were great. I have no idea if the rope swing is universal (I strongly suspect that it is and here is one that we found al ready to go!

The sun was just right for silhouettes  and sunset pics, the water was calm enough for reflections. it all just came together with these!

I really liked how our dust trail looked like the bush had fire peeking through with the sun's rays shining through the trees!

There is a new topic for photo challenges on 2peas and it is all bout where you are. so here is the start  of where we are!

we visited the local river for the first time this month.

and we ALWAYS seem to be at one park or another!
